Pizza Day every day!
In many homes around the world, eating pizza while watching a movie is a precious ritual. Pizza is a democratic food, practical to share, a dish that everyone likes and that everybody agrees upon.
In the United States (and in other parts of the globe, to be honest), last February 9, people celebrated National Pizza Day, a day dedicated to one of the most renowned and consumed and loved food delicacies all over the world. We do not need special occasions; we love pizza so much that for us it is Pizza Day every day!!!
There is a wide range of flavors and combinations that can be done with pizza, sometimes combinations might seem quite risky, but the reality is that the propensity of pizza is to accept ingredients and flavors that satisfy everyone to some extent.
Even those who are intolerant to gluten and absolutely cannot eat dough with wheat flour due to health reasons can enjoy a very good gluten-free pizza with rice dough or alternative flours, which in any case do not affect the flavor or aroma of the dish. The same thing for those who are lactose intolerant; apart from pizzas without mozzarella, whether white or red, today it is increasingly easier to find pizza with lactose-free mozzarella or cheeses.
A brief history of pizza and its variations
The first known testimonies of the "pizza" date back to before the year 1,000, but it was in Naples, Italy, that the dish reached wide popularity during the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries. During her visit to Naples in 1899 by Queen Margherita of Savoy, she was surprised by the pizza chef Raffaelle Esposito, who created the pizza "Margherita" with the representative colors of the Italian flag: red for the tomato, white for the mozzarella, and green for the basil.
Today literally hundreds of different types of pizza are available, and from Italy, pizza mania has quickly spread around the world - because let's face it, who doesn't like pizza?
But which type of pizza? Because apart from the selection of flavors, there are also many variations on texture, size, and ingredients to make the crust. While traditional Neapolitan pizza has a slightly high and soft crust, others prefer pizzas with a lower and crunchy base. Some countries have tried the fusion approach with the foods of their culture, so the Hawaiians have successfully introduced, albeit widely debated, pizza with pineapple, while in Korea pizza with kimchi is very much appreciated. In Chicago, on the other hand, they discovered that the "deep-fried pizza" is delicious, while in New York these super-large pizzas are in vogue but you don't eat them all, you only order a piece cut into a triangle, the so-called "NY slice".
In Memphis are making barbeque pizza, while Berkeley invented the California-style pizza, that combines New York and Italian thin crust with toppings from the California cuisine cooking style. In San Francisco, on the other hand, the San Francisco-style pizza is fashionable, which is comprised of a basic, thin-crust and just about anything else, so long as it is sustainably grown and locally sourced. All around Europe, Turkish and middle eastern food joints who also cook pizza will be happy to serve you their best kebab pizza. There are also several aficionados of sweet pizza, topped for example with Nutella. Pizza is always good.
Cannabis pizza? Sure!
And then there is the cannabis planet, which clearly has its own pizzas. In fact, cannabis pizza has been available in various countries for years, especially in the CBD pizza mode - but also in a psychotropic version with THC. And here with various techniques, from the basic one, that is the making of the pizza dough from hemp flour, up to the top versions that also include CBD and THC, that can be infused in oil and then added to the pizza after having pulled it out of the oven. The easier solution is to use CBD or THC-infused condiments.
In the United States, Canada, and in countries where the legislation allows the use of cannabis it is not difficult to find, especially in the hipster neighborhoods of the big cities, restaurants, and pizzerias that offer cannabis pizza, but also cannabis food in general, with menus that have the price column next to the one with the THC content and the one with the CBD content for each serving of each of the dishes on the menu. Here is an article from USA Today that takes stock of what the big fast-food chains offer as "cannabis specials" on 420 Day, which is also where we found the previous picture of the actual cannabis pizza, whose credits also for the creativity in the pizza shape go to the Los Angeles-based D’Amore Pizza in West Hollywood, that offers “Weed Pizza” as a secret menu option for $25.
It is not difficult today to find many of the Chefs of these restaurants in the various television broadcasts or streaming series dedicated to cooking, which already present formats solely dedicated to the cannabis food culture, also promoted for years by alternative media networks such as Vice with the creation of cannabis cuisines such as Munchies, or the more recent Bong Appetit, a true pioneer transmission of the genre. After the first two seasons in which a top Chef prepared an entire 7-course cannabis-based dinner for each episode for a cheerful group of cannabis-positive celebrities, the third season of Bong Appetit has become a Chef challenge a-la MasterChef. And of course, we've seen plenty of cannabis pizza on both Bong Appetit and Munchies.
Does CBD cause the famous "munchies"?
Speaking of Munchies, or the famous "toxic hunger" that attacks those who consume THC medical or recreational cannabis, pizza has always been one of the main "quick fix meals" for entire generations of cannabis users. But while THC cannabis develops this almost uncontrollable instinct to eat after having a good smoke, on the contrary, CBD cannabis not only inhibits appetite but promotes digestion by helping to regulate the intestinal system.
Our intestinal health is a problem we often overlook, perhaps because the problems that generally develop in those parts of the body aren't as troubling as, for example, a bad headache. You may not be aware of this, but the gut's role goes far beyond basic digestion and absorption of nutrients. It also influences the functioning of the immune system, aids in the metabolization of potentially dangerous food molecules, and aids in the production of vitamins and other nutrients in the body. Specialists believe that having a healthy digestive system is essential for living a healthy lifestyle.
Studies have revealed some surprising findings on the role of the endocannabinoid system and cannabidiol (CBD). In recent years, several pieces of research have been conducted to investigate the potential of cannabidiol to improve gastrointestinal health and digestion. But exactly how does it work?
How CBD can promote a healthy digestive system
In a 2017 study, researchers started some scientific experiments to investigate the medicinal potential of cannabis in the treatment of colon cancer. One of the reasons good gut health is linked to overall health and chronic disease prevention is its relationship to systemic inflammation. An imbalanced microbiome combined with a compromised cell lining means that food particles and toxins can enter our bloodstream. This alerts our immune system (70-80% of our immune system is housed in the gut) and triggers an inflammatory response.
CBD has been shown to reduce both acute and systemic inflammation. It does this by preventing the production of cytokines and interleukins (the proteins that signal our immune system to trigger an inflammatory response), resulting in therapeutic benefits for those suffering from IBS, colitis, gas, bloating, and damage to the intestinal lining.
CBD is also great for digestive health because its cortisol-reducing benefits help prevent leaky gut or leaky gut. Furthermore, Cannabis CBD has also been shown to regulate appetite, unlike high THC cannabis which stimulates the appetite, smoking or ingesting CBD high cannabis can be helpful if you suffer from bloating due to overeating. or too frequently.
Returning to pizza, its digestibility is variable, it depends on many elements. First of all, how much have you eaten!!! Also remember that they are all carbohydrates that you will take a long time to dispose of, especially if you try to keep in shape. The digestibility of pizza also depends on the dough, which must be done artfully, and possibly artisanally.
Some pre-cooked doughs, or frozen ones, are a little more difficult to digest. So generally, a thick crust (or deep-fried) pizza will be more difficult to digest than a thin and crunchy pizza, or one made with rice, wholemeal, or hemp flour. And the topping, which in a light pizza, such as in a margherita or in a pizza with vegetables, will make your pizza more digestible than a pizza that is ultra-loaded with cheeses, heavy ingredients such as eggs, or extremely spicy. But tastes are tastes…
Last note on the digestibility of pizza: OK at lunch, during the day, and even in the evening at dinner with friends or in front of the television, but avoid eating pizza too late at night, or the long digestion could disturb your sleep. Avoid the temptation in the morning to take a bite of that piece of pizza leftover from the night before, but sometimes the temptation is irresistible, we understand… And don't eat pizza in the microwave, as it will get all soggy!
Cannabis in the movies (or on Netflix)
You can order pizza, film, and cannabis all online; practical, isn't it? The perfect evening is at your fingertips, easy, inexpensive, and a surefire success. An evening that you can decide to spend with friends or your sweet half during Pizza Day but also every day of the week. But before we dedicate a few words to the CBD cannabis that we will enjoy as a digestive during our binge-watching, let's talk about the cannabis we will consume on screen.
Today is almost impossible not to run into a film or a television series where cannabis is not present. At a certain point, there is always someone who with gritty nonchalance takes out his joint or vape pen and, while the cinematic interaction continues, passes on to others for sharing. All without great fanfare or moments of suspenseful cinematography, as in the past. We are far from the historical scenes of Easy Rider's joints, when the appearance of cannabis on the screen, in addition to being considered transgressive, was also a statement against the prohibitionist stance.
Instead, especially since the US legislative situation has brought cannabis on the path of liberalization even for recreational purposes (although not yet in all US states, but in Canada and other countries), show how popular cannabis is to all social levels and for any reason, from medical to recreational to even the extremes of "stoners", and how cannabis is now normally and positively accepted by mainstream society.
Cannabis is a star not only in films and television series, but also in mainly American (but also European) talk shows, where today any host or guest, including actors, politicians, and public figures no longer have any qualms about saying that they use cannabis, and between these also include former President Barack Obama! But above all, as anticipated at the beginning of this article, cannabis has finally become a TV star, as there are so many films and television series that make it the main actor.
This starting precisely from the series of cannabis-based cooking shows, but also series dedicated to the aspects of the business linked to cannabis, as in the case of the recent television series Growing Belushi, in its second season, which sees the American actor Jim Belushi tell in the form of docu-reality with moments of satire, as in 2015 he launched and managed (among a thousand ups and downs) his production and marketing of cannabis with the Belushi Farms brand, which forms the first cultivations in Oregon in 2015 has become a cannabis empire, which among other things, it carries the official trademark “The Blues Brothers” with it.

When it comes to consuming CBD cannabis, there are several methods to choose from. The more traditional method is the Joint, which can be smoked with tobacco or in a pre-rolled joint. The reason for this is that CBD, when aspirated through the lung alveoli, produces an immediate feeling of relaxation that lasts for a long time, making it the most popular method. Purists might prefer using a water bong or a pipe.
If you love the good old joints, we recommend smoking CBD alone or in combination with officinal herbs not using any tobacco, such as the pre-rolled and ready-to-use CBD cannabis pre-rolls of MA True Cannabis, which you can buy online also in the PURE Pre-rolled CBD cannabis joints version: all pure, no tobacco or other herbs.
In addition to the fact that nicotine has the potential to nullify the calming effects of CBD, we believe that pure tobacco-free CBD cannabis has a very fresh and powerful fragrance, which is especially important if you want to smoke your joint while you are watching. a good movie maybe in a closed environment.
If you like to roll your own joints, we recommend our MA True Cannabis CBD flowers; these special qualities of CBD cannabis are among the most fragrant and tasty strains Made in Switzerland.
